Icy Snowflakes

Hi guys!

Entering the holiday season, I'm starting to have ideas for some nail art to match the occasion. So hopefully I will be able to translate my thoughts onto my nails, although sometimes they don't always turn out like what I hope for. This one is unfortunately one of those, lol. Strangely, I still really like it.
This will also be my entry for Nail Polish Canada 2013 Holiday Nail Art Challenge Week 1, which I just found out like 2 days ago! (Where have I been?!)

The idea was to do a subtle but sparkly snowflakes, with pond manicure style. But I think it's a little too subtle :p. My base is 2 thin coats of OPI Don't Burst My Bubble and a thin layer of OPI Which is Witch? I free-handed a big snowflake using OPI This Gown Needs a Crown, and the added another layer of Don't Burst My Bubble. On top of that, I free-handed another silver snowflake and a blue small snowflake with CbL Zipper. I finish the mani with one coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.

This is probably the first time that I really like a nude subtle mani like this. It makes me think of a snowflake princess, or something like that hahah! What do you think? :)

  1. I like it! I'm not normally one for white manicures either, but the subtle sparkle and texture gives it exactly the right amount of variety to make this a really perfect look :)

  3. I love, love this! I have and use the Don't Burst My Bubble a lot - I am going to have to try this - I use a few of that OPI sheer collection polishes but never have tried a soft design like yours shown here...and to layer over the design to bury it into a layer effect is just super! I've usually used the sheers in this collection with a layered jelly sandwich using a white glitter like the Nubar polka dot or the one OPI made that was almost like it - I love the softness of the silver and the powered blue you used!

  4. This is gorgeous! Great job. How is "Don't Burst My Bubble" at two coats? Does it self-level nicely?

    1. Debbie, I used it with a layer of matte top coat in between, it's better to have multiple thin layers than several thick ones. It really helped level out the polish really nicely.

  6. Hey! I'm from bloggers bootcamp! firstly, i love your nail art! its so christmassy, and opi dont burst my bubble is definitely a favourite! However, i think your blog layout could maybe have a running colour theme through it, if you get what i mean. Maybe some more of the colours in the banner featured in post titles, using template designer. I cant really think of anything else as your photos are amazing, and your blog is awesome!
