Sugar Spun Manicure

Hi everyone! Hope everybody had a great weekend. I went to see Captain America, it was awesome. You know, if you're into superheroes kinda thing ;). I think Chris Evans is a perfect actor for the role, although it looked like they put too much make up on him in this movie haha! Still love him though. Too bad he won't be Human Torch anymore in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.

Enough nerdy chit chat! Today I have another nail art using OPI Sheer Tints. Yeah, I know.. I'm still obsessed with them. Although sugar spun mani is not a new idea, I honestly didn't think of using the tints for it. So thank you to my lovely reader who gave me the idea to do this mani when I mentioned that these tints get thick and stringy pretty quick.

I started with 2 coats of white polish using OPI My Boyfriend Scales The Walls, topped with Nicole by OPI Heavenly Angel. If you're not familiar on how to do this mani, just google 'sugar spun manicure tutorial' and you can pick which tutorial you want to use, there are tons of it! I used tutorial by The Nailasaurus and all 4 shades of the sheer tints for it.

It took about 1-2 mins for me to get the blob of polish thick and stringy. I have never done this with regular polish, so I can't tell you the difference. But from The Nailasaurus tutorial that suggested to wait 10 mins, it sure look like it takes a lot less time with OPI Sheer Tints. And by the time I finished my clean up, all the 'sugar spun' have dried and safe to touch.

I realize because of the texture this mani creates, it is not for everyone. But it sure is fun to look at. Not sure if you can see it on the pics, but in person the way the flakies peeking from underneath kinda give a crystallized sugar look. I love it.

  2. Not sure I love this one :( Love the colours, but not a fan of texture. It's a creative way to use the tints though, that's for sure!
