Swatches: Emily de Molly ~ Golden Ratio (LE) & Folklore

Happy Monday! Today I have these 2 Australian indie brand, Emily de Molly, which most of you are probably already familiar with by now.
Golden Ratio is a limited edition polish made for Femme Fatale Cosmetics, and then re-released for a limited quantity on Emily de Molly bigcartel. It is a mint green with gold sheen and a very fine scattered holo micro glitter. Swatches are 2 coats without top coat.

Folklore is one of the newly released micro glitter. It's packed with turquoise holographic micro glitter in a sheer turquoise jelly base. Here I layered 2 coats of Folklore over Golden Ratio and 1 coat of HK Girl top coat. You can definitely wear this on it's own, it's opaque in 2-3 coats.
Depends on your monitor setting, it might look more blue. But it's actually leans more green in person. My pc monitor shows the color accurately, but I'm writing this post on a laptop and the pics are showing it bluer than it is.. sigh.

Emily de Molly polishes can be purchased directly from the bigcartel site (Australian only), and for the rest of the world there are stockists you can choose to purchase it from. The list of the stockist can be found here.

OPI Sheer Tints

Happy weekend everyone! Today I'm happy to play with these new OPI, the Sheer Tints. I have been waiting to get them and see what I can do with them. This collection consists of 4 sheer, syrup like shades, labeled as top coat.

Be Magentale With Me (pink), I'm Never Amberrassed (yellow), Don't Violet Me Down (purple), I Can Teal You Like Me (blue)

They can also be used in nail art, and that will come later ;). Today I'm just showing you one interesting way to use them. Over a glitter. You probably have heard of jelly sandwich or candy mani, it's a manicure where you sandwiched a glitter between cream and jelly polishes (or just jellies). Here I'll be showing them with a micro glitter and a sparse glitter.

The micro glitter I used here is OPI Simmer & Shimmer (2 coats).

The next pic is showing the glitter with 2 coats of OPI Sheer Tints on each nail. L-R: Be Magentale With Me, I'm Never Amberrassed, Don't Violet Me Down, I Can Teal You Like Me.

OPI Don't Burst My Bubble (1 coat) and OPI Which is Witch? (2 coats)

Layered with 1 coat of of OPI Sheer Tints. L-R: Be Magentale With Me, I'm Never Amberrassed, Don't Violet Me Down, I Can Teal You Like Me.

Just for fun, I swiped I'm Never Amberrassed on half on the index, I Can Teal You Like Me on half the middle, Be Magentale With Me on half of ring nail, and Don't Violet Me Down on half the pinkie.

I absolutely love these! They are so fun to play with, and I'm not even a fan of layering. Although, for the first time I'm not very fond of the names lol. Can't wait to play with them and do some nail art.
I purchased these from my local Chatters. For Canadian OPI lovers, you can also get these from Nail Polish Canada. They are available in a 15ml full size bottle or mini bottle as a set.

Swatches: Girly Bits Gloss48 Exclusive Trio

I'm back from my lazy days and have some of my new polishes to share with you. Today I have a trio made exclusively by Girly Bits for Gloss48. The trio consist of 2 holographic and 1 glitter topper.

Girly Bits Gloss48 Exclusive Trio

Let's start with my favorite, #endlesslove. It's a soft linear lavender holographic with very fine pink glitter. I love the shimmery look the glitter gives. Perfect formula, opaque in 2 coats. My swatches are without top coat.

Next is #islandtime, a bright turquoise linear holo. The formula is squishy and jelly like, opaque in 3 coats. My swatches here are without top coat.

Last one, #blingernails. The name is so appropriate, cause this is a super sparkly glitter topper! It has several sizes of holographic gold hexes and stars. I didn't have a hard time getting the stars out, just swirl the brush in the bottle and I always get 1-2 stars on the brush. I layered one generous coat of #blingernails over #islandtime and top coat it with HK Girl.

This trio is currently no longer available to purchase from Gloss48, and I'm not sure if they will be back. Be sure to follow Girly Bits on facebookinstagram, and twitter for more info on this and other new and upcoming collection.

Ikat(ish) Chevron

What do you do to get over bad mood? I watch tv shows, chick flicks with happy ending (I would know cause I watch the same movies that I like over and over again). I don't usually do my nails, fail nail art won't cheer me up. But today I did. It looks good from an arm length. Close up on the pics, not so much. The brush strokes doesn't look quite like ikat. But I kinda like it.

Swatches: Illamasqua Gothiqua

It's Mani Monday post! Well.. not really. My nails are actually naked right now, and have been since this morning. I just don't feel like painting them even though I want to (*gasp*). But I have swatches that I did a couple days ago and been meaning to post.
This is one of my lemmings since I first saw the pic on instagram (@ommorphia) months ago. I gave it a lot of thought, a little too much until it was no longer for sale. But then I was lucky enough to snagged it on a blog sale. Yay! Illamasqua Gothiqua was a limited edition exclusive shade for The Bay Canada, and a part of The Sacred Hour collection.

Gothiqua is a plum purple with blue shimmer. The shimmer looks pretty intense on the bottle, unfortunately it doesn't show much on the nail. Bummer. But I like it anyway, it looks very flattering on me. For some reason, on me, it doesn't look as purple as the swatches I've seen.  As usual, Illamasqua formula does not disappoint. I used 2 coats and top coat for my swatches.

Weekend Glittery Gradient

Hi guys! Hope you're enjoying you weekend, I sure am! :) I'm rocking this fun and colorful gradient mani that I reeeally love. Gradient is probably my favorite kinda nail art, easy to do, although I admit I hate doing the clean up. But seeing the result makes it all worth it.

I use a make up wedge to do my gradient, over a white base. Instead of using Northern Lights or Fairy Dust like what I usually do with my gradient, I chose a chunkier glitter as a topper. I will list all the colors I used at the end of the post.

Here's the gradient without the glitter. I like them either way :)

Swatches: Enchanted Polish January 2014

Happy Friday! Not too long ago, I posted swatches of the entire 2013 Enchanted Polish monthly polishes. For 2014, Chelsea, the brain behind the brand, decided to make all the monthly polishes as mystery. On the bright side, she has been doing pre-order to make it easier to get the polishes, no cart jacking, in and out no hassle.

So, here's January 2014. It's a deep blue linear holo with a subtle green shimmer, almost black in low light. The linear holo effect is strong, and great opaque formula. Nearly a one coater, but I used 2 coats here without top coat.

Swatches: Colors by Llarowe Melon Wine

Happy first day of spring! Although it still doesn't feel like spring here. But, I'm wearing something bright to inspire spring to really show herself :D
This is the last one from my small CbL haul, Melon Wine. It's a bright coral pink with subtle blue shimmer. The formula is really good and very easy to apply, a little on the sheer side though. I used 3 thin coats and can still see some visible nail lines. Still, a really lovely shade and I'll probably wear it again in the summer.

It's more vibrant in person than what the pics here are showing. I used 1 coat of HK Girl top coat.

This shade was discontinued and brought back with the Spring Frenzy collection, but I'm not sure if it will stay. So grab it while you still can! As this post is written, there's still a few left, you can get it here, hurry! :D

Blue Dotticure

Happy hump day! Today I have a simple but oh so cute mani, until I ruined it by adding bows, lol! I did a quick mani last night with Zoya Yummy, but then decided to do a simple dots with Zoya Chantal. I love this combo.
The thing with dotticure, I always call it 'simple' and it might be true as far as the look. But I don't think the process is as easy as it looks, at least not for me. It's not easy to create the same size dots and placed them in a uniform spaces. One twitch and you'd ruin it. Even worse when working on my dominant hand, I think I forgot to breathe a couple times just to keep my hand steady lol.

(Sorry for the odd looking skin color, all my pics came out this way today, fml!)

I woke up thinking it would be cute to add a bow to my existing dots. It looked better in my head. I used Zoya Charisma and Zoya Micky for the bows. All sealed off with HK Girl top coat.

Have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by! :)

NOTD: Colos by Llarowe Shy-Ann

Good morning! I want to share with you my new favorite CbL. Once it's on my nail, it's love at first sight. Shy-Ann, thankfully doesn't represent her name at all. There's nothing shy about this polish. It is a pink leaning purple linear holo with added sparkle, it's 'pop' on your nails. I have not had a a chance to see it under the sun, but I bet it's gonna be amazing. Holo+sparkle? I'm always sold on that!

I used 3 thin coats and top coat (HK Girl). The 3rd coat wasn't really necessary, you can totally getaway with just 2,

St, Patrick's Day Nail Art

I'm always glad when there's a theme that I can use as inspiration for a nail art, less thinking to do. This is my first St. Patricks day mani, and I tried to incorporate everything I can think of related to this holiday. Shamrock, rainbow, pot of gold, and a leprechaun holding a beer (just in case you couldn't make out what I tried to paint there, lol. It's a sad attempt). I only noticed while editing the pics, that the rainbow on my index don't aligned with my middle nail. Not a big deal, I know.. Still, it bugs me, but I'm too lazy to take another pics :p

The background is a saran wrap mani using blue and white polishes over a white base. Here's the list of all polishes I used for this mani:

Swatches: Colors by Llarowe Waters of Belize

Hi guys! I have another Colors by Llarowe shade for you tonight. I'm still wearing this one since I swatched it yesterday. This one is a part of the new Spring Frenzy collection, Waters of Belize. This is described by the maker as "a sea blue crelly with light blue shimmer/sheen". I think the definition of sea blue can be differ from one person with another. To me this looks like a bright teal, but in certain lightning the blue looks stronger.

I also have to tell you that this one is really tricky to photograph, pics just won't show the real color as I see it in person. I freaked out when I saw in my camera display is showing as an aqua blue, so I took some pics with my iphone, and it looks more accurate. But when I transfer the files from my camera to computer, it's showing almost as close as what I took with iphone. I didn't color correct any of the pics, and these are the most accurate I can get it on pics.

I used 3 thin coats and top coat. First pic I took with my camera, and the rest with my iphone and a macro lens.

I love the formula of The Sheens from CbL! I have another one of the same finish that I will be showing soon. Don't forget to follow Colors by Llarowe and Llarowe on facebook. You wouldn't want to miss another restock for these!
